Maths & Art at Callerton Academy: Our talented Year 8 students have been working on a brilliant cross-curricular homework project combining Maths and Art and the results are absolutely fantastic! Using grid methods and scale factor techniques, students recreated famous North East landmarks and portraits with incredible precision and creativity. From detailed architectural drawings to bold, stylised portraits, the standard of work has been outstanding. A huge well done to all of our homework winners, who were celebrated in assembly this week! Winners will receive a special prize from the Maths and Art departments. We are so proud of the effort, accuracy, and artistic flair shown across the year group. Music at Callerton Academy: We're absolutely delighted to announce the launch of our brand-new school orchestra, created in partnership with Orchestras for All! This is an exciting and fully inclusive opportunity for all students especially those learning an instrument or studying GCSE Music. Even better, students will have the incredible chance to perform at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead! The orchestra is: Open to all instruments Open to all experience levels Completely free to join After-school rehearsals will give students a fantastic space to build skills, grow in confidence, and enjoy making music together. Performing Arts at Callerton Academy: We were incredibly proud to see Callerton Academy represented at this year's North East Culture Awards. Being nominated alone was a significant achievement, and we are grateful for the recognition. Although we did not take home the award on this occasion, preparations are already well underway for our next theatrical production. If you would like to get involved, Callerton Academy's theatre company, Westend Skies, has begun work on its upcoming project and rehearses every Tuesday after school.
